From Sud to North, we can see:
- the south polar red spot
- 3 white SSTB ovals
- The dark "STB spectre" (both in visible and methane absorption band) rising
- rifts setting in SEB
- a very dark formation south of NEB, at meridian (corresponding to a hot spot)
- perturbations rising in NEB
- a very orange NNTB

Hi Guys here are a few solar images of recent happenings. 19th Apr caught the returning of AR2644, now named AR2651. Pity the weather did not allow me to follow it. The tiny AR2652 can be seen close to the limb and left of AR2651.

AR 2654 surged in size in a very short time, on the 2nd May and is still on view.

Received: 4 May 2017 at 15:59 JST

Dears,

Under conditions sometimes good, despite clouds covering the planet on some of my acquisitions, Jupiter and 3 satellites (with details on Io & Callisto). One can see, from South to North:

- a red spot in the south polar zone, around meridian, bright in methane absorption band filter.

- "STB spectre" rising on the left in the STB, dark in methane filter

- Great Red Spot setting at beginning of session, hardly visible on the limb, followed by its perturbations

- a double bright eruptive spot mid of SEB, around meridian at beginning of the session

- dark zone in methane filter in NEB, which seems to be strangely related to a bright spot in visible bands

Best resolved images are R from 22h31UT and IR from 23h04UT.

Jupiter in Quadtych.

These are clean RGB pictures (no ir or R as luminance).

Nice to see is the Great Red Spot is turning away.

Despite the low altitude of Jupiter (30 degrees), many details are visible.

Hi Guys borderline seeing in Green and Blue, but better in Red. The row of black dots, shown more clearly on the mono images, caught my eye. I thought no, nothing like the Shoemaker Levy 9 impacts , the results of which which I observed with an eyepiece over several twilight evenings evenings in July 1994.

Hi Guys not quite so frustrating low altitude seeing this evening, good enough to give AS3 and R6 something to work on. It was only good for about an hour, going from poor to good in a matter of seconds and likewise from good to poor.

Dears,

Under correct conditions, Jupiter and its two closest Galilean satellites, with GRS transiting at meridian (bright in methane) and "STB Ghost" (very dark in methane) passing by just South. One one methane image other very dark material is passing North of GRS, making this look as if it would be a unique feature which split on both side of GRS (which I doubt).

In NEB, a small bright spot at meridian, and a larger circled white oval in the polar area more North (bright in methane).

Dears,

5th Jupiter observation session for this opposition (I started a bit late), the results rather correct surprised me, I thought it would turn out much worse ... Is this thanks to the nice cocktail Winjupos derotation + Autostakkert 3 ?

Two interesting things to be seen in the atmosphere, here, both left of central meridian: the dark feature in the bright STrZ (also dark in methane absorption band), and a small bright eruption in the NEB.

Hi,
A couple of very different sessions last weekend.

On the Friday (7th April) Mars 10.5 months after opposition at 4.1" in low in the West just after sunset with multiple overlapping images during preview- rescued by edge quality sort in AS!3, then the following day Jupiter one day after opposition in very good seeing which was much easier to process.

Jupiter with colour camera and also with ZWO CH4 filter.

Details on both images and see the images also here;
