Hi Richard and all,

Conditions were not good here on Feb 13 but I managed to capture the dust cloud on the same night as Clyde but slightly earlier, at CM 179. I could only make use of a single 90-sec video for these respective images.

Initially I was disappointed but Clyde's detection made me look again and select only the best result, the other videos were considerably poorer. A good lesson to learn always to report the best result you have.

All the best,

Johan

Hello!

Here is a report of a dust storm by C.Foster, and an image. This has been confirmed by three UK observers. Perhaps you will be able to see this area? From Europe it can be observed now. From the USA in a few days....if it is still there!

Good wishes

Hi all,

Image set from yesterday evening centred on the Amazonis region, with Propontis I at lower right and M Sirenum at upper centre.

The bright region (possible dust activity) near the NPC that I noted yesterday is not as obvious

In this set.

A number of subtle clouds can be seen across the north.

Image set from early yesterday evening.

The cloud at upper left is in the region of Palinuri Sinus.

I suspect there may be some dust activity in the north at lower left.

Martin --
Thanks for this fine image.

It shows a faint cloud streak across
Hellas. I wonder whether it is continuous with the persistent cloud in the Argyre area, as that cloud has been increasing in size.

Hi all,

With opportunities being very limited due to the persistent evening cloud (it’s the peak rainfall season now), I tried to make the most of a gap yesterday evening.

Seeing conditions however were poor to very poor.

Syrtis Major is towards the terminator at right. Although not well seen, Elysium is at lower centre.

Dear all,

Sending this year's Mars images for the archives, only four of them this far. January was terrible weatherwise here, but February has started out better.

On Mars, the slim northern cap and thin polar hood has been visible, and Argyre was bright on the ev limb on Jan 18.

All the best, Johan

Received: 5 February 2023 at 22:34 JST

Hello !

Here are the results from a good session back from early October. Two series of Ic, z', CH4 and Y images, with the GRS.

Before Jupiter, I took the same series on two stars in Aquarius observed at the same airmass to try a photometric calibration. While there isn't any stellar references for the CH4 and Y bands, I made a personal evaluation of these, working with flux spectra of the stars under the ISIS software. And it looks to work :)

Results for the Ic, CH4, and Y bands are on track from the values I found in 2021, as well as from historical references. Again the z' band deviates not only from the reference, but also from my 2021 result. This band remains less easy to catch it seems...

The method used is the one described in the AAVSO CCD/CMOS guide.

Regards,

Christophe
