Hi all,

The Hellas basin has recently been monitored by Niall MacNeill and Andy Casely specifically regarding possible dust activity.

Hellas is now coming into view for me and my personal interpretation of the attached image set is that there does appear to be significant dust activity extending across the basin and possibly beyond its rim.

Mars this morning, centred on S Meridiani. I believe the Argyle basin is very noticeable below the edge of the SPC. It appears to be discoloured so may have experienced, or be experiencing, some dust activity.

Hi all,

The dark side of Mars. Some subtle cloud appears to be hanging over the Northern regions of M Erythraeum and Margaritifer, Ophir/Candor has been quite bright recently.

I captured an extensive set of data (extending over a period of about 70 mins) following some overnight interaction with Niall McNeill (thanks, Niall) regarding the edge artefact issues I have been experiencing. I haven't fully optimised the results, but could see some improvement in the situation.

Despite a frustrating and persistent edge artefact, I would like to think that I have been able to monitor the yellowish clouds (above centre, which I suspect to have at least some dust component) that have moved from Zepheria/Aeolis towards Memnonia for a third consecutive day. From what I have seen, I expect them to gradually dissipate further.

Bright cloud continues over the Tharsis Montes at left.

Hi all,

I was able to catch a follow up observation of yesterday’s apparent dust activity over the Zephyria/Aeolis region. The CM is almost exactly the same as yesterday(160 today against 162 yesterday).

The yellowish clouds are not as condensed, or as obvious as yesterday, but are still detectable. Not unexpectedly for these localised storms, they appear to be expanding and dissipating. They also appear to have drifted eastwards (to the left) towards the Mesogaea area.

Bright cloud remains over Olympus Mons and the Tharsis Montes.

Hi all,

POSSIBLE DUST ACTIVITY OVER ZEPHYRIA/AEOLIS.

Bright cloud is visible over Olympus Mons(lower left) and the Tharis Montes(left).

However, what was very noticeable to me was the significant change from yesterday in the region to the upper right of centre. There appears to be at least 3 discrete clouds. They are visible in B and G, but also definitely show bright in R and can also be detected in IR. They show a yellowish tinge as against the white clouds over the Tharsis region, which makes me suspect there is at least some dust component in the clouds.

Hi all,

I had reasonable seeing conditions for all three of my favourite planets this morning.

Mars was centred on the Amazonis region. Cloud covered Olympus Mons is at lower left and Elysium is at lower right. Propontis is at lower centre.

M Sirenum is at upper left and M Cimmerium at upper right. The South Polar Hood remains prominent at top, possibly with the NPC starting to become visible?
